DIY Festive Holiday Treat Bags

Nothing gets you into the holiday spirit quite like logs crackling in the fireplace and the smell of warm holiday treats fresh out of the oven. I love to gift these homemade treats throughout the year, especially during the holiday season.

Some favorite treats to gift:

Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Oat Cookies
Praline Chex Mix
Spicy Chex Mix
Holiday Treat: Bacon & Eggs

This is one of the ways we are gifting treats this year, and all you need are three supplies, 2 of which you probably already have on hand. You can easily use this technique for treats and snacks or for wrapping small and irregular-shaped gifts.

A holiday shopping tip:

Stock up on treat bags when they're on sale to use throughout the year. Hobby Lobby often has them for 50% off, in white and kraft.

Easy DIY Festive Treat Bags

Supplies:

  • Paper treat bags

  • Twine or yarn

  • Pre-made twist tie bows

  • Scissors

  1. After filling it with treats, lay the bag down, front side facing up. Take your twine and string it behind the bag and towards the front. You should now have a left strand and a right strand. Pull these strands towards the center, crossing the left strand with the right and then pulling one strand to the top and one to the bottom, creating an intersection. Turn the bag over and tie off the twine with a simple shoe-tying knot.

  2. Grab a bow and use the twist tie to attach it to the center of the twine on the front of the package. Secure tightly to prevent the bow from falling off.
